Our Group

We do not sit back and hope opportunity finds us.

We research it. We prepare for it. We ask for it.

Being part of a Group should mean someone is working on opportunities that can be difficult for an individual operator to pursue alone. Graham's actively researches markets, identifies organisations worth approaching, builds the proposition, makes the introduction and asks for the conversation.

What the Group should create

A Group should create leverage.

Leverage can mean stronger brand presentation, better market research, broader commercial conversations, documented outreach, coordinated business development, shared systems and lessons learned once and reused across the Group.

You still have to deliver the work. You should not always have to create every opportunity alone.

How we pursue opportunity

Preparation before approach.

Active business development is not the same as sending random sales messages. We want to understand who we are approaching, why the service may be relevant, what we can credibly offer and how we will support delivery if the answer is yes.

01

Research the opportunity.

Look for real opportunities where Graham's and our local operators may be a good fit.

02

Build the proposition.

Present Graham's clearly, credibly and with a proposition relevant to the opportunity.

03

Stand in front of the customer.

Be willing to make the introduction and represent the Group in front of potential clients.

04

Take the answer.

Not every conversation will progress. We accept that as part of actively pursuing growth.

05

Learn and adjust.

Use real-world feedback to improve how Graham's approaches future opportunities.

06

Reuse what works.

Where an approach works, use the learning to strengthen the Group and support future growth.

The work behind the conversation

It is not just lip service.

Our growth and commercial activity is supported by documented strategies, outreach packs, operating plans, territory analysis, review processes and service pathways.

The point is not to create paperwork for its own sake. The point is to make better decisions, present the business more credibly and learn from what happens next.

Target definition Focus effort where there is a credible reason for Graham's to start a conversation.
Named outreach Aim for meaningful conversations with the people best placed to consider the opportunity.
Clear first ask Make the first step practical, proportionate and easy for both sides to consider.
Follow-up and learning Learn from the response and use that experience to improve future business development.

Rejection is part of business development

We cannot promise that every door will open.

We can promise that we are prepared to knock on some of them.

Most people do not enjoy putting themselves in a position where another person can say no. That discomfort is one reason potentially valuable conversations never happen.

Graham's wants to absorb more of that burden at Group level — prepare the approach, make the introduction and take the answer professionally.

When the answer is no, we learn from it and keep building.

Opportunity is broader than advertising

We use multiple paths to create conversations.

Commercial outreachActively pursue commercial relationships where Graham's may be a strong fit.
Local and community networksStay connected to the local networks and communities around our operators.
Digital acquisitionUse digital channels as one part of a broader growth strategy.
Supplier and professional networksDevelop relationships that can create new conversations and opportunities.
Franchisee and operator referralsUse the strength of the existing Group to help identify future opportunities.
Structured follow-upGood opportunities can take time. We stay engaged where the relationship is worth building.

Why this matters

The Group should be working on tomorrow while operators deliver today.

Our operators still need to serve customers well, build relationships and run strong local businesses. The Group can add leverage by looking outward — researching, presenting, asking, learning and opening conversations that may become the next opportunity.
